CHARLOTTE, N.C., (Nov. 11, 2004) -- Tom Hammonds Chevrolet in Darlington, S.C. has joined SCORE Motorsports and driver Hermie Sadler as an associate sponsor for the BI-LO 200 NASCAR Busch Series race and the Mountain Dew Southern 500 NEXTEL Cup Series race this weekend in Darlington, S.C.

Tom Hammonds, a three-time All-ACC selection for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, played 12 years in the NBA before retiring in 2001. He has been owner/operator of Tom Hammonds Chevrolet since March 2004 and has a love for racing, being an accomplished drag racer himself.

"This is a great opportunity for us to be involved with NASCAR at Darlington for the last Southern 500," Hammonds said. "The people of this area have embraced Tom Hammonds Chevrolet and this is a way we can let the fans know we appreciate their support."

Hammonds has two connections to SCORE Motorsports. In addition to being friends with Sadler, Hammonds played five seasons with SCORE Motorsports co-owner Bryant Stith while they were with the Denver Nuggets. The pair were both honored last March at the ACC Tournament in Greensboro, N.C. for their accomplishments in the ACC.
