Elliott Sadler/ M&M'S Racing Watkins Glen Preview
Watkins Glen is the Final Bump in the Road to the Chase for the M&M'S Team
Elliott Sadler and the M&M'S team continue to show strength and remain sixth the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series point standings as they travel to Watkins Glen International Speedway for the Sirius Satellite 250 at the Glen. Sadler's best performance at the Glen is when he started 24th and finished 15th one year ago.
QUOTING M&M'S DRIVER ELLIOTT SADLER: "It has been a great week for me so far. To run that well at Indianapolis and to be in contention with champions like Dale Jarrett and Jeff Gordon says a lot for this M&M'S team. On Monday morning it was back to the grind because we had to get ready for Watkins Glen and were back testing. I am looking at the Glen as a wild card' race. One slip and you are in the kitty litter (sand traps) and the entire field passes you by so you go a lap down. It's hard to make up laps on a road course. As a driver I will have to stay 100% focused on hitting my marks and making the most of the final road course of the season. I do, however like racing at Watkins Glen - it is a faster pace and it suits my driving style a little better than Infineon. But, we ran well at Infineon so I believe if we work as a team things will fall into place like they have been all season long."
QUOTING M&M'S CREW CHIEF TODD PARROTT: "We took our Watkins Glen car to VIR Monday and tested it just to shake it down and get Elliott acclimated to shifting again. We learned a lot and we decided that we are going to take the car we finished tenth with earlier this summer at Infineon to the Glen. The pit road is reversed at Watkins Glen so the M&M'S pit crew is practicing this week to compensate for the difference. The great run at Indianapolis built some pretty big momentum so we'll use that to get us through these next five races. This team is still focused on winning races, that is what we set out to do every weekend and we aren't going to let our guard down as we get closer to Richmond."
QUOTING M&M'S SPOTTER BRETT GRIFFIN: "This is the second race in a row where spotters do not play a very important role in the racing. The M&M'S team will generally place three spotters around the track. We want to have someone in the esses', in the inner loop and in the sharp left hander on the backside of the course. Those are places where guys can get into trouble and if someone does we want Elliott to be aware of it. I generally like to be in the inner loop because the guys are driving their tails off back their and it is great racing."
