SADLER PREPARED TO "TEAR IT UP" IN TEXAS
QUOTING M&M'S DRIVER ELLIOTT SADLER:
"Texas has been pretty good for me in the past. I've started on the outside pole twice at Texas and last year we led a lot of laps before a tire went down sending the car into the wall pretty hard. Looking back on it, they say everything is bigger in Texas - and that hit was no exception. I guess the first area of improvement for this M&M'S Team is to get the pole - and the second area is staying in the game until the end.
"Texas is usually a slick track but this time around you can tell the track has aged a bit over the winter. The track is more gray which is a sign the asphalt is getting older. Todd (Parrott, crew chief) has a win here as a crew chief with Dale Jarrett so I am going to lean on him for strategy. Our pit crew is really on the mark this year and they had great stops in Bristol. I have a ton of confidence in them and I think this weekend you will see long green-flag runs where every second counts - those guys in the pits will make a difference.
"Tracks like Texas really favor my driving style and even though we are looking at the big picture of being in the top 10 with ten races to go we'd love a win. Masterfoods USA has a sugar plant in Waco, Texas where they make Skittles. and Starburst. so it would be nice to have a good showing for all the hard workers in the plant."
QUOTING M&M'S CREW CHIEF TODD PARROTT:
"We are taking chassis 25 to Texas this weekend. We had a good test - we unloaded good, struggled a little throughout the afternoon, then we finished off the test up to par. Elliott always runs well at Texas but has had some bad luck and hasn't been able to close the deal. We are hoping this weekend will change that."
QUOTING M&M'S SPOTTER BRETT GRIFFIN:
"Texas has always been one of Elliott's favorite tracks but for spotters it's really different. We spot from a suite at Texas - it's an environment spotters aren't very familiar with because it is so quiet. Normally we can only hear the roar of the motors but being in the suite you can hear all the other spotters talking to their drivers and it can be very distracting. It's important for the M&M'S team to qualify well because the spotters pick positions based on qualifying order. For the past two years I've had a front row seat and hope this year will be more of the same."
