Samsung/RadioShack 500 - Texas Motor Speedway
Sadler Nips Kahne to Win in Texas
Elliott Sadler edged rookie Kasey Kahne by about half of a car length to capture the win in the Samsung/RadioShack 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Sadler held off the hard-charging Kahne by .028 seconds to win his first race while driving for Robert Yates Racing. Kahne had the day’s dominant car, leading 148 of the event’s 334 laps, but got caught a lap down after a caution came out following his green-flag pit stop. Kahne made up that lap to challenge Sadler at the end, only to fall inches short. Sadler, who paced the field for 48 laps, claimed his second career Nextel Cup win and the first of the season. With the victory, Sadler was able to gain four spots in the point standings, moving into the fifth spot. Kahne had to settle for the third runner-up finish of this his rookie season, while Jeff Gordon scored his fourth straight top-five finish in Texas with a third-place effort. Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Rusty Wallace rounded out the top five in the finishing order.
