Ward Burton will make his 348th NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start when the green
flag drops for the Chevy Rock and Roll 400 at Richmond (Va.) International
Raceway Saturday night.
BURTON ON RICHMOND... "The fans are going to be treated to a great race this
weekend. Racing at Richmond is always exciting, but will be even more so with
the fight that's going on for that last spot in the Chase for the
Championship. It's going to be interesting to see how it all plays out and
how that will affect things on the track. It's a shame the NetZero Racing
team isn't fighting for that position too, but we've got our own agenda and
we know what we need to do to make the rest of this year a successful one.
There's still a lot of racing left and the guys who are left out of the Top
10 still have to get out there and race every weekend to the best of their
abilities. There are still a bunch of points left in the season to be had and
we'd like to end this season with a good showing. More importantly though,
we've got goals of Top 10s and Top fives that we're still shooting for. We
won't finish in the Top 10 in the championship, but that doesn't mean that
we're not going out there every week looking for a
Top-10 finish. The NetZero Racing team has worked hard all year and we've got
a lot to prove to ourselves. We know we have the tools to run well every
week, we just need to put everything together and we'll get there."
