Chevy Rock and Roll 400 - Matt Kenseth Notes

NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series: Chevy Rock & Roll 400, 7:30PM, Sept. 11

Matt Kenseth
Team: No. 17 DEWALT Ford Taurus
Owner: Jack Roush/Mark Martin
Crew Chief: Robbie Reiser
Chassis: MMR-23 (first race in 2004, but ran last year at both Richmonds)

Matt Kenseth on racing at Richmond International Raceway:
"We're fortunate enough to have clinched a spot in the Chase, but we're still focused on winning this weekend. I think we're likely to see a wilder race than even Richmond usually gives us, but our goal is to stay out of trouble, do the best job we possibly can and really get prepared to go into these final 10 races of the year on a roll."

Crew Chief Robbie Reiser on racing at Richmond International Raceway:
"This chassis has been rebuilt from last year and this marks the first time we've used it all year. If it's a good short track car for us, we may see it again in the final ten."

Fast Facts

  • Matt Kenseth finished 22nd at California Speedway one week ago. He still has fifteen top-10 finishes in 25 starts in 2004. Kenseth has now been inside the NASCAR Top-10 for 60 straight weeks - the longest active streak.
  • Thursday evening Matt Kenseth and Kurt Busch will compete in round three of the Crown Royal IROC Series. Busch and Kenseth are fifth and ninth in the points respectively, following events in Daytona and Texas earlier this year.
