Scott Wimmer on Las Vegas…
“I am really looking forward to racing this weekend in Las Vegas,” said Scott Wimmer, driver of the #22
Caterpillar Dodge. “We had a great test there in January, probably the best test that we have had so far. If
that is any indication of how we can run, I think we’ll be pretty good.. We were real competitive and we
figured out right away what the car needed. It was our first chance to test the new tires and the new body
style and we were pleased with how it turned out. It also gave me a chance to knock the rust off and get
comfortable in the car.
“We rolled off the truck and were real fast right away. We made a run with both cars we had brought out
there, but on the second run with our primary car I got up in the loose stuff and the car came around on me
coming off the turn. It destroyed the car completely. The good thing was that the backup car we brought
was real fast too, so we are taking that car back there to race. I think we should be in good shape.”
Frank Stoddard on Las Vegas…
“I think our test went great. It’s a shame that we wrecked the car we were hoping to take out there because
it was so fast. Scott jumped right out there and ran some very fast laps right off the truck. I think that has
given all of us something to look forward to when we go back there. I think we should be pretty
competitive.
“I love racing at Las Vegas. I’ve been fortunate to have some success there, so that’s a good reason to like
it. But, it’s a really nice track and the racing is great. You can pass anywhere on the track and that makes
for some very close races. It’s a real wide track for side-by-side racing.”

Wimmer filmed a commercial at Cashman Equipment in Las Vegas in
January following his wedding. The commercial will air later this
season.

• Crew chief Frank Stoddard has two Winston Cup wins at the 1.5-mile oval. He was the winning
crew chief for the 1999 Las Vegas 400 and the 2000 CarsDirect.com races at Las Vegas Motor
Speedway.
• Wimmer and Stoddard tested in Atlanta Motor Speedway this week in preparation for next
weekend’s race at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
• Wimmer leads the Raybestos Rookie of the Year points chase after finishing third in Daytona and
15th in Rockingham.
