Ward Burton will make his 353rd NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start when the green
flag drops for the UAW-GM Quality 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway Saturday
evening.
BURTON ON CHARLOTTE... "We went out and spent two evenings testing this NetZero
Chevrolet at Lowe's Motor Speedway last week and we were pretty happy with
the car. We definitely have the speed with our Hendrick Motors and the car
seemed to handle pretty well and reacted well to the changes we threw at it.
It's the same car we ran here in the spring, but with a new body on it, so
we're expecting to roll off the truck and be competitive. We've tested at a
couple of the tracks [Lowe's Motor Speedway and Martinsville (Va.) Speedway]
that we are racing at in the next couple of weeks and that should make a
difference in the way we are able to approach the weekends. We didn't do a
lot of testing during the summer months and maybe that hurt us a little.
We've run pretty well at the tracks we've tested at, so we're hoping this
will be a good weekend for us."
