KASEY KAHNE QUOTES
“I think the night races are fun and especially fun at Charlotte. The fans that come and the way the track is put together, the lighting, everything about it, it’s a pretty entertaining, fun night to race under the lights. The Busch race will be great, too, the first one under the lights. The Cup race will be awesome on Saturday night. I look forward to it. I’ve watched them all in the past and watched Bill Elliott just about win that race last year in the No. 9 Dodge, so hopefully we can get that No. 9 Dodge back up there and win a race for Ray.

STATS & FACTS

KASEY KAHNE AT CHARLOTTE

  • This weekend will mark Kahne’s second NASCAR Nextel Cup Series points race at Charlotte.
  • Kahne started 19th, finished 12th and led five laps at Charlotte in spring. Kahne’s No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge took off when the sun went down during the race. He was battling within the top five late in the race, before minor body damage to his Dodge caused handling problems in the closing laps.

    KAHNE FLEXES MOPAR MUSCLE

  • Kahne’s No. 9 Dodge Dealers/UAW Dodge will be sporting a special Mopar paint scheme this weekend at Charlotte. Kahne’s Dodge will feature Mopar’s signature “M” logo on the hood, with a blue, black, and silver color scheme. The sponsorship represents the first time that the Mopar brand has ever graced the hood of a NASCAR Nextel Cup Series car.

    ADDING UP THE POINTS

  • Kahne moves to 14th place in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series rankings after racing at Kansas. He is just 58 points out of the 13th position and 105 points out of 12th place.

    KAHNE CHASING ROOKIE RECORD

  • Kahne is chasing NASCAR’s modern-era record for top-five finishes by a rookie driver. (See Table)
  • Kahne is one of only four drivers to have scored 10 or more top-five finishes this season (Rockingham, Las Vegas, Atlanta-a, Texas, Mich-a, Pocono-b, Indy, Mich-b, Calif-a, New Hamp-b).

    CAR 55 WHERE ARE YOU?

  • Chassis No. 55 out of the Evernham Motorsports stables has been a force on the NASCAR circuit with Kasey Kahne behind the wheel. When running this chassis, Kahne has earned six top-five finishes (2nd at Las Vegas, Texas, Michigan-a, and California-b, fourth at Indy, fifth at Michigan-b) and two pole positions (Las Vegas and California) while leading 367 laps this year.

    RAYBESTOS ROOKIE BESTS

  • Kahne’s four pole positions are two shy of Ryan Newman’s record six poles in a rookie season.
  • After 30 races, Kahne has a commanding 91-point lead in the Raybestos Rookie-of-the-Year race.
  • Kahne’s total of 464 laps led is nearly three times the combined amount of laps led by the five other 2004 Raybestos Rookie-of-the-Year candidates (157). He also has more poles, top fives and top 10s than the combined amount of his Rookie-of-the-Year competitors.

    FAST ON FRIDAYS

  • Kahne earned his fourth pole (Las Vegas, Darlington, California and Pocono) and his second track qualifying record (Las Vegas, Pocono) at Pocono in June.
  • Evernham Motorsports has set three track qualifying records this season (Kahne – Las Vegas and Pocono (a), Mayfield – Dover).
  • Kahne tied Art Watts (1957) for the quickest any driver has reached four career poles – 14 races.
