Coca-Cola 600 - Ward Burton Notes

Ward Burton will make his 334th NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series start when the green flag drops for the Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's (Concord, N.C.) Motor Speedway.

BURTON ON LOWE'S... "We tested at Lowe's a couple of weeks ago and we weren't 100% pleased with the car, but we had the opportunity to use the NEXTEL Open as another test session and we were a lot better in both qualifying trim and race setup. Tony (Furr, crew chief) and the guys did a good job back at the shop to get the NetZero Chevrolet where it needed to be. We've got the same car this week as we did for the Open, so we think we know what we've got to work with and how the car will act and react to changes. The 600 is a long race and you have to be there at the end. You need to take care of the car and remember that the race won't be won on any lap but the last one. We'll have to keep up with the changes the car and the track will go through as the temperatures drop and the sun goes down. This is a race where the crew chief has to be on top of his game, and Tony has a ton of experience at this track and in this race. If we can stay out of trouble, we should be able to come home with a pretty good finish S unday."
