BUSCH ENTERS '600':
Driving the No. 84 CARQUEST Chevrolet, Kyle Busch will attempt to qualify for his second career NEXTEL Cup race this week at Lowe's Motor Speedway. He started 18th and finished 41st at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 7.
DOUBLE DUTY:
Busch will attempt to pull double duty this weekend, racing his No. 5 Lowe's Chevrolet in NASCAR Busch Series competition on Saturday before looking toward Sunday's 600-mile NEXTEL Cup marathon. The Las Vegas native is currently second in the Busch Series standings, just 31 points out of the lead.
MAY'S BEEN GOOD:
May has been a memorable month for Busch. He turned 19 on May 2, just 12 days before starting from the pole position and winning his first-ever Busch Series event at Richmond. If that wasn't enough, he went to Nazareth (Pa.) Speedway the following week, picking up his second consecutive Busch Series pole (fourth of the year) and his eighth consecutive top-10 finish.
KYLE BUSCH, DRIVER OF THE NO. 84 CARQUEST CHEVROLETS: (ARE YOU DOING ANYTHING DIFFERENTLY TO PREPARE FOR DOUBLE DUTY THIS WEEKEND?) "Well, it's going to be tough. We're going to have to qualify our Cup car on Thursday, and try to get it in the show in the best possible spot we can. We're going to have a fun day on Friday, practicing and qualifying the Busch car, and then racing Saturday and racing again Sunday. It's going to be a big weekend, it's going to be a long weekend, but it's also going to be a fun one.
"You know, I'm not really taking anything different this weekend as far as steps go to get prepared for the race. I'll try to keep myself hydrated better this weekend, and maybe take some good drinks, some Gatorade and some other stuff like that, that the Hendrick guys will help me out with. The trainers and stuff, they'll definitely take care of me."
