Banquet 400 presented by ConAgra Foods - Kansas Speedway

Nemechek Sweeps Kansas
Two straight races, two straight close finishes, two straight wins for Joe Nemechek. Only one day removed from his .041-second win over Greg Biffle in Saturday’s Busch series race, Nemechek beat Ricky Rudd to the finish line by .081 seconds to sweep the weekend’s events in Kansas City. Nemechek, who started the Banquet 400 at Kansas Speedway from the pole position, led twice during the event for a total of 41 laps. Jeremy Mayfield led the most laps on the day, pacing the field five times for 72 laps. The win for Nemechek is the fourth of his career and his first since winning at Richmond in May of last season. Rudd’s second-place effort was his top finish of the season, only his second top-ten on the year. After a runner-up finish on Saturday, Greg Biffle finished in the third position on Sunday afternoon. Elliott Sadler and Mayfield rounded out the top five in the finishing order. Points leader Kurt Busch battled to a sixth-place finish, taking a 29-point lead to Charlotte. The race featured an exciting 24 lead changes among 12 drivers and 9 caution flags for a total of 39 laps.

Two in a Row for Front Row Joe
Joe Nemechek went four years without scoring a pole position, until grabbing one last weekend at Talladega. He didn’t have to wait quite as long this go around. “Front Row Joe” Nemechek certainly lived up to his nickname, winning his second consecutive Bud Pole. Nemechek will lead the field to the green flag for Sunday’s Banquet 400 at Kansas Speedway. With a qualifying lap of 29.974 seconds, at an average speed of 180.156 mph, Nemechek will start from the pole for the eighth time in his career. Teammates Kasey Kahne and Jeremy Mayfield qualified within .011 seconds of one another, to start second and third respectively. Jimmie Johnson and Bobby Labonte round out the top five on the starting grid.
