    JEFF BURTON QUOTES:
On Dover – “Dover is a very unique race track from both a design stand point and from the different type of surface stand point. The concrete does make a big difference. It’s not a smooth concrete, so it’s a fairly rough track although it’s much smoother than it used to be since they ground it down. The track really isn’t like any other place we race.”

You’ve run well with this team so is your goal now to win? “It’s my opinion that this team is good enough to win. I think we need to find a little speed to be a little faster than what we have been. It’s up to Kevin (Hamlin) and I to get the speed out of the car, I think it’s there, we just have to find it. We’ve been real close, we put ourselves in a position to win at Bristol, then there are some other places we didn’t have ourselves in position to win. We’ve run well, but we haven’t run great. The pit crew is good enough to win, the equipment is good enough to win and the overall team is good enough to win, so we have to put it all together. I don’t think it is out of the realm of possibility for us to be thinking about winning.”

What are you looking for out of the Kansas test? “Our first test was the week before my first race with RCR in Michigan, so that was mainly about beginning our communication as a team. With this upcoming test we’ll get a chance to test specifically for a type of race track, which is something we hadn’t had the chance to do yet. There are so many things that we haven’t been able to investigate. There are all sorts of things that we haven’t had a chance to begin working on. Most of those are speed related issues that have to do with the suspension and the body. I think there are a lot of things that this test will give us a chance to do that we haven’t been able to do yet. It will give us a chance to work these things out and make us a better race team. There are so many things that go on with building a race car, from shocks to spindles to the bodies, that we have been learning at the racetrack instead of being able to learn them at a test, so there are a lot of questions we haven’t been able to answer. Not only for Kansas but also for other upcoming races.”
