MBNA America 400 - Carl Edwards Notes

Dover International Speedway, September 24-26, 2004
NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series: MBNA 400, 1:00PM Sunday, September 26

Carl Edwards
Team: No.99 Ford Taurus
Owner: Jack Roush
Crew Chief: Bob Osborne
Chassis Number: RK-171 (ran at first Bristol, first Fontana and Darlington)

Carl Edwards on racing at Dover International Speedway:
“It's one of my favorite tracks. It reminds me a lot of driving a 1/2 mile dirt track because of the banking and the way it drives. I sat on the pole earlier this year in the Superchips F-150 and lead a bunch of laps which was cool. It's a fun track and with each week my comfort level grows in the No. 99 Roush Racing Ford.

"I'll be racing both the Superchips F-150 Truck and the No. 99 Roush Racing Ford this weekend and I'm really looking forward to it. The travel does present some challenges but nothing we can't overcome. It's really exciting and fun stuff. I'm very grateful that Jack (Roush) and Geoff (Smith) are going to such great lengths to let me drive both races. And to have Dave Blaney helping us out is really awesome as well."

Crew Chief Bob Osborne on racing at Dover International Speedway:
“Dover is a tough track. I think it's probably one of the more physically demanding tracks on a driver but I think Carl is up to the challenge. We are taking a car that we've run this year and have had some success with. We're fortunate to have someone like Dave Blaney helping us out this weekend while Carl focuses on the truck race Saturday which is great. I think we have the potential to do well this weekend, we'll just have to see what happens."
