Team: Roush Racing
Car: No. 16 Travelodge / National Guard Ford
Owner: Jack Roush
Crew Chief: Doug Richert
Chassis: RK-201 (This is the same car Biffle lead 70 laps with in last year’s fall Darlington race before a broken flywheel relegated him to a 10th-place finish).
Greg Biffle on racing at DARLINGTON RACEWAY: “I’ve been looking forward to running Darlington since we had the good run there in the fall Cup race. We had the car to beat, but a broken flywheel took us out of contention. I’ve always enjoyed racing at Darlington because the uniqueness of the track puts a lot in the driver’s hands. It’s going to be a little different this weekend because we’ll be racing on a smaller track so to speak. They’ve put in SAFER barriers there, which has reduced the corner width by about 26 to 30 inches. You use up every bit of racetrack at Darlington, so it will take some time to get readjusted with the layout.
“I’ll feel pretty good about our chances in both cars this weekend. We had a solid run in the Cup car last weekend in Atlanta and carrying that momentum into Darlington will be a plus. The Busch cars have been strong every week and we’ve just had unfortunate things happen that have kept us from getting the finishes we deserve. Brad (Parrott) has a pretty good track record at Darlington with Roush Busch cars, so hopefully I can keep that going with a good run this weekend.”
Crew Chief Doug Richert on racing at DARLINGTON RACEWAY: "We're taking the same car we took there last year and we hope we can pick up where we left off. Last year we qualified well, ran well and then had mechanical problems. We now know how and why the problem occurred, and have taken precautions to make sure it doesn't happen again. I think we'll have a good race in Darlington this weekend."
