"Hilarity for Charity" Success on Stage and Off
Unique Event Raises $25,000 for Operation Marathon
MOORESVILLE, N.C. - The Green Foundation is proud to announce that
"Hilarity for Charity," to support Michael Waltrip's "OPERATION MARATHON"
benefiting the Victory Junction Gang Camp, raised $25,000 the night of
Monday, Oct. 18, at the Comedy Zone in Charlotte, N.C.
The event, one truly unique to the sport of NASCAR, was hosted by Green
Foundation co-founders Jeff and Mark Green with Michael Waltrip.
The night featured a standup performance by all-star and world famous
comedian Killer Beaz, and also included a live and silent auction that
raised money for "OPERATION MARATHON." "OPERATION MARATHON" encourages
NASCAR fans across the country to support the Victory Junction Gang Camp
through the running of the 39th Las Vegas Marathon on Jan. 30.
"The night was a complete success," said Green Foundation co-founder Mark
Green. "We had a lot of high hopes for this event. It was something
different and something special. The amount of money we raised to help
Michael (Waltrip) and 'Operation Marathon' - that feels pretty good. I have to thank all the fans for their continued support. I think they had a
lot of fun and we greatly appreciate their generosity."
The night's main event was Beaz, but never one to walk off any stage
quietly, Waltrip delivered his own performance that pleased the crowd well
into the night.
"We didn't know if we were ever going to get Michael (Waltrip) off that
stage," quipped Jeff Green. "But I think everyone had a good time. We
accomplished our goal of having a good time for a good cause. The fans were
great, and to raise $25,000 in one night, that says a ton for our fans. We
appreciate all of their efforts and time."
