Sirius at The Glen - Watkins Glen International
Robby Gordon Sweeps Road Course Events in 2003
Robby Gordon showed that he is King of the Road, sweeping both road-course events in the 2003 season. Gordon was able to make his fuel last the final 39 laps to capture his second win of the year. After winning at Infineon Raceway in June, Gordon claimed his third career Winston Cup victory by taking the checkered flag in the Sirius at The Glen at Watkins Glen International. Gordon becomes the first driver to win both road-course in the same season since Jeff Gordon pulled off the sweep in the 1998 and 1999 seasons. Gordon was awarded the ten bonus points for leading the most laps during the event, staying out front for 30 of the race’s 90 laps. ‘Hired Gun’ Scott Pruett crossed the finish line in second place, 2.33 seconds behind Gordon, his career best effort. Dale Earnhardt Jr. ended the day in third, while Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick rounded out the top five.

For Gordon, it was his second pole position of the 2003 season, his second at Watkins Glen, and the 44th of his career. Rookie Greg Biffle will start from the outside pole, qualifying in the second position. Mark Martin qualified in the third spot while defending race winner Tony Stewart starts fourth.
