Jason Leffler will make his 40th NASCAR Winston Cup start and eighth for the NetZero HiSpeed Racing team this weekend at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.
JASON LEFFLER ON RACING IN TALLADEGA…“It’s been a while since I raced in a restrictor plate race, since the trucks don’t race at Talladega Superspeedway and we didn’t use them in Daytona. Restrictor plate racing is more of a game then anything else. Of course you have to have good horsepower to keep you in the draft and we have that with our Hendrick Engines, but you also have to have people out there that want to draft with you. I hope that won’t hurt me even though I haven’t been racing with a lot of these guys for very long time. I’m hoping, since the Haas CNC Racing team gets help and information from Hendrick Motorsports, those guys might cut me a little bit of slack out there on the track for a while. That said, restrictor plate racing is all just a guessing game, and by the end of the race it’s every man for himself. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
“I’m so confident Tony Furr and the guys on this NetZero HiSpeed Racing team. I know they’ll give me everything I need to be competitive this weekend and we’ll just have to go from there. I know the spoiler and restrictor plate rules are a little different this time around, but at least everyone will be in the same boat. Plus, with the restrictor plates the way they are now, we’ll have to stop a lot and a little bit of time lost on pit road equals a lot of time lost on the track, so we need to be on top of our game in every aspect. Racing’s tough in Talladega, but this team gets better and better every week, so I’m looking forward to getting there. I’ve had some decent finishes there in the past. Maybe we can sneak up on the leaders this weekend and show them something that might surprise them. I know we’ve got it in us.”
