Aaron’s 499 - Jack Sprague Notes

TALLADEGA FAST FACTS

The 2003 Aaron's 499 will be Jack Sprague's first NASCAR Winston Cup race at Talladega Superspeedway.

The Haas CNC Racing team will utilize the same No. 0 NetZero Pontiac Grand Prix Jack Sprague drove to a 14th-place finish in the season-opening restrictor plate race in Daytona.

Sprague is currently tied for 37th in the 2003 NASCAR Winston Cup point standings.

Sprague's most recent Talladega appearance came in the 2002 Busch Series race. He started 7th and finished 13th.

Sprague made his initial Talladega appearance in the 1992 Fram 500k Busch Series event starting 24th and finishing 29th.

Sprague is a three-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion (1997, 1999, 2001).

Sprague is a 2003 NASCAR Winston Cup Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidate and currently holds down fourth place in the overall standings.

JACK SPRAGUE ON THE AARON'S 499…
"Daytona was our best race so far this season, so I'm actually looking forward to going to Talladega and seeing if we can duplicate that success. I'm confident in the car we've got because it's the same car we had at Daytona and we've worked on it a bit to make it even better.

"Talladega will be a wild ride, no doubt about it. We're coming off a decent finish in Texas(22nd) and hope to be able to follow that up with something even better. We just need to make sure we stay out of trouble, which is never easy when restrictor plates are involved."

SPRAGUE ON THE NETZERO RACING TEAM…
"We feel like we are making changes and adding people that will help the team perform better. Both owner Gene Haas and NetZero are in this sport to succeed and will do whatever it takes to get the team where it should and needs to be. We need people around with Winston Cup experience and we're out getting them. Nobody thought this would be easy, but on the other hand, I don't think we expected to come out of the box and struggle quite as much as we have. We haven't shown what we are capable of and the resources we have available to us are second to none. This is a top-notch organization and we aren't just going to sit back and wait for good things to come to us. We're going to get out there and make it happen ourselves. Last week in Texas was a good start for us. If we can go out and get a couple more good, solid finishes then we might be on to something. Dennis Connor (Sprague's crew chief) and I figured the trucks out instantly and the Busch cars quickly. This is a son of a gun."
