Jack Sprague, No. 0 NetZero Pontiac Fast Facts: Texas
JACK SPRAGUE ON THE SAMSUNG/RADIO SHACK 500 … “Texas is a tough track. It’s hard on motors, it’s hard on drivers, and it’s hard on crew chiefs when the car isn’t just right. Typically, there are a lot of long green flag runs and not a lot of chances to adjust on the car, so if you haven’t got it right when you take the green flag, you’re going to be in for a long day. It’s a fast track. I think the qualifying speed there last year was the fastest of any track the Winston Cup Series raced on by a couple of miles per hour at least. We’ve had a bit of success there in the past both in the Trucks and then again last year in the Busch car when we finished second. Hopefully, we can get in a good qualifying lap and start a little closer to the front than we have been.”
SPRAGUE ON SUCCESS IN WINSTON CUP… I’d like to think the couple of poles and the win I had there in the Trucks would help us out at Texas, but this series is so competitive, our past success at the tracks we have been to this season hasn’t given us any kind of an advantage over anybody else. There are so many people in this sport that have had been around for a long time and had so much success, it’s tough for brand new teams to come in here and be good right off the bat. We just need to be patient, work hard and not lose sight of our goals. If we do those things we’ll get where we want to be, which is to be competitive week in and week out. We can’t let the misfortune of the last couple weeks get us down.”
