Subway 400 - Elliott Sadler Notes

View from the driver's seat with Elliott Sadler...
"I love to race at Rockingham. We did really well there in the Busch Series and there is a lot of history in racing there. It's a driver's racetrack. You can run on the bottom, the middle or at the top of the racetrack. It's great for the fans and for the drivers because at the end of the day it's the driver with the best handling and fastest car that wins. We tested there earlier this month and were real happy with the results."

Tire Specialist Shawn Warren on tire wear at Rockingham...
"Rockingham and Darlington are the two hardest tracks on tires. The surface is sandblasted and abrasive causing times to fall off seconds in a matter of a couple of laps. Goodyear does not make a special tire for Darlington and Rockingham - they are the same tires we use at Las Vegas and Bristol. It won't be unusual for teams to pit with only five laps on their tires. That is how much of a difference the tires make at Rockingham."

View from the pit box with Crew Chief Raymond Fox III:
"We would like to go to Rockingham and have a good performance. This will be the judge of how well our car make runs compared to the other manufacturers because we have the chance to actually race. We weren't really happy after Daytona because there was a lot more racing to do, but Mother Nature just wasn't cooperating."

View from above the speedway with Spotter Brett Griffin:
"Rockingham is one of my favorite racetracks to spot because there are so many different grooves the drivers can run thanks to the wide surface in the corners. The Rock really keeps me on my toes as a spotter because it is like a bunch of different races within the race when pit stops start. Cars on fresh tires can be a second faster than cars on old tires, so we have to watch out for who is pitting and where they are on the track so we don't lose any valuable track position."
