Jason Leffler will make his 42nd NASCAR Winston Cup start and 10th for the NetZero HiSpeed Racing team this weekend at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. The team tested at the .526-mile oval on October 7 and 8.
LEFFLER ON MARTINSVILLE…
”We tested the NetZero HiSpeed Pontiac in Martinsville last week and things went pretty well. We need to make sure that we get in a good qualifying run, obviously, so we don’t get stuck back there in the back of the field and get into trouble. The last thing we want to do is get a lap down early and then not be able to make it up. The last couple of weeks have been disappointing. We’ve picked up the qualifying program, but just seem to make little mistakes throughout the race that we can’t recover from. Martinsville would be a good place to redeem ourselves. I know we have it in us; we just need to be mistake-free. Sometimes you have to outsmart the competition on short tracks like these and be prepared to make decisions that might stray from the norm as far as pit strategy goes. Of course, that said, it’s hard to plan for anything except the unexpected at places like Martinsville and we sure don’t want to outsmart ourselves in the process. “
