Budwieser Shootout - Daytona International Speedway

Junior Wins Shootout Under the Lights
From worst to first. Dale Earnhardt Jr., starting shotgun on the field after drawing the last starting position, made his way through the field and won the first Budweiser Shootout ran under the lights. Earnhardt passed Jeff Gordon with five laps to go and held on to claim his first Budweiser Shootout victory. Earnhardt finished .180 seconds ahead of Gordon and took home a $205,000 payday for his efforts. Matt Kenseth crossed the finish line behind Gordon, taking the third position in the finishing order, while the Dodges of Ryan Newman and Ward Burton rounded out the top five. The first nighttime Shootout featured 13 lead changes among seven drivers, with Gordon leading the most laps, staying out front for 31 of the event‘s 70 caution-free laps.

Geoffrey Bodine on the Pole for Budweiser Shootout
Geoffrey Bodine showed the magic touch on Thursday as he was awarded the pole for the 25th annual Budweiser Shootout through a random drawing. Bodine, who'll be driving the No. 11 Hooters Ford that's owned by his brother Brett, earned a spot in the inaugural nighttime running of the Budweiser Shootout through his victory in the All-Star race in 1992.
