Sharpie 500 - Michael Waltrip Notes

The No. 15 NASCAR Winston Cup team tested at Bristol Motor Speedway in preparation for this weekend's Sharpie 500. The team is currently fifth in the Winston Cup point standings, 48 points out of third.

Crew Chief Richard "Slugger" Labbe on Test:

"The Bristol test was great! We went to the test with a basic set up and made a deal with ourselves that if we were decent off the truck, we'd try some off-the-wall kind of stuff. We unloaded and quickly went to the crazy kind of set ups. We made a bunch of long runs - 50 lap runs, 60 lap runs and made five qualifying attempts. Michael (Waltrip) was better than he has ever been at bristol since he joined DEI. The car we tested and will go to bristol with, is the back-up car we ended up pulling off the truck in Darlington on Sunday morning and finished fifth. He loves the car. We knew we needed to give him a better car and I think we've done that."
