JASON LEFFLER ON RACING AT BRISTOL…”Looking back, I haven’t always qualified as well as I would have liked, and I’ve started some races pretty far from the front. It’s tough to stay out of trouble and on the lead lap at a short-track like Bristol anyway, and it’s next to impossible when you don’t start up front. Hopefully we can put together a decent qualifying run with the NetZero HiSpeed Pontiac and we can stay out of everyone else’s problems and just run our own race. In both the Busch and Cup Series races I’ve run in, I seem to have gotten caught up in everyone else’s mistakes pretty early. That’s the biggest problem at Bristol; it’s a challenge just to finish.
“I feel like we’ve got some momentum coming out of the race last week in Michigan. Even though we didn’t have the finish we should have, Tony Furr and the Haas CNC Racing guys gave me a great car to work with. A couple more runs like we were having before we broke, and we may start to get this team headed in the right direction. It’s been a long year for these guys, but maybe if we can get a decent finish this week we might start to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
