Sirius Satellite Radio at The Glen - Watkins Glen International
Stewart Wins at The Glen
Tony Stewart claimed his third win of the 2002 season on Sunday afternoon, winning the Sirius Satellite Radio at The Glen on Watkins Glen International's road course. Stewart led three times for a total of 35 of the event's 90 laps and survived a one-lap shootout after a red flag with three laps to go. The win is the first for Stewart at Watkins Glen, his second on a road course, and the 15th of his career. Rookie Ryan Newman held off Robby Gordon for the second spot, while Gordon settled for third. Newman finished 1.636 seconds behind Stewart. Road course ace PJ Jones finished in the fourth position and pole-sitter Ricky Rudd came home fifth.
Rudd on Pole at The Glen
Ricky Rudd will lead the field to the green flag for the Sirius Satellite Radio at The Glen on Sunday. Rudd won the pole position at Watkins Glen, posting a qualifying lap of 71.885 seconds, at an average speed of 122.696 mph, around the 2.45 road course. Rudd, who won the road course event at Sonoma earlier this season, will start from the pole for the first time this season and the 28th time in his career. Michael Waltrip will join Rudd on the front row, starting from the outside-pole position, while Tony Stewart (third) and Bill Elliott (fourth) start side-by-side for the second straight week.
