BOBBY LABONTE, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"I wish we could have gone just a little bit faster. As you know, a
half a tenth (of a second) here makes a big difference a lot of times. But,
the car ran good. We haven't really changed a whole lot of stuff on it. It's
been good since we unloaded. I usually qualify my race setup, anyway,
because I don't know the difference."
KEN SCHRADER, NO. 36 M&M'S PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"We've struggled all day. It's just been loose off, major. We made a bunch
of changes and it was a lot better in qualifying. We went substantially
faster - like everybody does. But, last is last, no matter what time you
run. I guess we're not dead last, but we're close to it."
TONY STEWART, NO. 20 HOME DEPOT PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"I'm pretty happy with that lap. I knew I missed the first one pretty
big. I missed it in one and two, so I went down in three and four and just
kind of set up for the second lap. But, all-in-all, I'm pretty happy with
that."
JOHNNY BENSON, NO. 10 VALVOLINE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"We're disappointed with the time, but we're not disappointed with the
race car. It's up on top of the racetrack and we just can't get any grip. I
think it will race good; I feel confident about that. It's just not going to
work for two laps."
STACY COMPTON, NO. 14 CONSECO PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"The guys made some wholesale changes right before qualifying and it paid
off. We were good in race practice this morning, but we couldn't make the
car run fast. We knew we had a good shot. We knew we had a good race car. We
just had to make it fast in qualifying. They made some changes and it turned
out to be a pretty good lap for the Conseco Pontiac. I was a little
concerned with the way things went in practice, but that was a good
pick-up."
(ARE YOU STILL EXCITED ABOUT EVERYTHING YOU'VE GOT IN FRONT OF YOU THIS
WEEKEND?) "I am. I just hope we don't have weather problems. If we have
weather problems, that's going to create a lot more [problems]. They got
qualifying in with the Busch car today, but it looks like it's going to rain
through about Thursday of next week - here and there - so, I don't know what
to expect. But, hopefully we'll get everything in."
