Carolina Dodge Dealers 400 - Darlington Raceway

Marlin Tames Darlington
Sterling Marlin became the first two-time winner in the Winston Cup series, winning the Carolina Dodge Dealers 400 at Darlington Raceway. Marlin, who had to start from the rear of the field due to an engine change after Happy Hour, won for the tenth time in his career. Marlin took his second trip to victory lane at Darlington, he last won at the track in 1995. Elliott Sadler followed Marlin across the stripe, finishing in the runner-up spot for the second time this season. Kevin Harvick had his best effort of the season, finishing third, while Dale Earnhardt Jr. and rookie Ryan Newman rounded out the top five. Marlin continued to pad his point lead, now holding a 99 point advantage over Newman.
