Gordon, Waltrip Win Gatorade Twin 125s
Jeff Gordon held off Dale Earnhardt Jr. to win his second career Gatorade 125 qualifying race. Gordon, who led all 50 laps in the first qualifying race, will start the Daytona 500 from the third position, the same spot where he qualified on Saturday. Earnhardt Jr. finished second, followed by Ken Schrader in third. Ricky Rudd and Terry Labonte rounded out the top five in race number one.
Defending Daytona 500 Champion Michael Waltrip won the second Gatorade 125 event, leading for 46 of the race's 50 laps. Waltrip's Chevrolet will start from the fourth spot in the race on Sunday. Tony Stewart followed Waltrip accross the stripe, finishing in the second position. Rounding out the top five were Jerry Nadeau, Kevin Harvick, and Bobby Labonte.

Johnson Wins Daytona 500 Pole
Jimmie Johnson became only the third rookie to win the pole position for the Daytona 500, roaring to the top-starting spot with a lap of 48.431 seconds, at an average speed of 185.831 mph. Kevin Harvick, starting his first Daytona 500, will join Johnson on the front row for the Great American Race. Defending Winston Cup champion Jeff Gordon qualified in the third spot, while Robert Pressley and Ward Burton rounded out the top five. Only Johnson and Harvick locked in starting spots, the remaining 41 spots will be settled after Thursday's twin 125-mile qualifying races.
