Sharpie 500 - Bristol Motor Speedway
Gordon Snaps Winless Streak at Bristol
'The Streak' is no more. Jeff Gordon's 31-race winless streak came to an end on Saturday night as Gordon took the checkered flag for the Sharpie 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Gordon bumped Rusty Wallace up the track and out of the groove with two laps remaining to take the win. Wallace had to settle for second place. The win for Gordon was his fifth at Bristol, his first in the night race, and became the 20th driver to win at Bristol from the pole position. Dale Earnhardt Jr. captured the third position, while Kevin Harvick and Matt Kenseth rounded out the top five.
Gordon Sweeps Bristol Poles
Jeff Gordon made it a clean sweep on Friday, winning both pole positions at Bristol Motor Speedway this season. Gordon qualified in 15.470 seconds, at an avearge speed of 124.034 mph, to claim the pole position for Saturday night's Sharpie 500. For Gordon, it was his third pole of the season and the 45th of his Winston Cup career. Dale Earnhardt Jr., who sat on the pole last week, will start from the second spot at Bristol, while Earnhardt's teammate Michael Waltrip and Rusty Wallace start from row two.
