UAW-GM Quality 500 - Lowe's Motor Speedway

 

Marlin Wins at Charlotte
Sterling Marlin drove his Dodge to victory lane for the second time this season, taking the checkered flag for the UAW-GM Quality 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Marlin outdistanced second place Tony Stewart by 6.002 seconds to claim his eighth career victory and his first win at Charlotte. Marlin led for 135 of the event's 334 laps, giving Dodge their third win of the season. Ward Burton finished in the third spot, followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Burton in the top five.

Spencer 'Returns' Charlotte Pole
Sporting a Mummy Returns paint scheme, Jimmy Spencer grabbed the pole position for the UAW-GM Quality 500 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Spencer, who has announced that he will be leaving the 26 team at the season's end, turned in a qualifying lap of 29.166 seconds, at an average speed of 185.147 mph, to claim his second pole of the season. Spencer's teammate Todd Bodine will join him on the front row, starting from the outside pole, the second time this season the teammates have started first and second. Bodine won the inaugural pole in Chicago while Spencer qualified second. Kenny Wallace, subbing for the injured Steve Park, will start a season-best third, while Ryan Newman and Kevin Lepage make out the top five.
