Food City 500 - Bristol Motor Speedway
Sadler Wins First at Thunder Valley
Elliott Sadler claimed his first-ever Winston Cup victory on Sunday, holding off John Andretti by .426 seconds to win the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Starting from the 38th spot, Sadler becomes only the third driver to win at Bristol from the backstretch pits. Sadler, who had led only two laps in his career at Bristol, led for 80 laps today and won in his 75th start. Following second-place Andretti to the stripe were Jeremy Mayfield, Jeff Gordon, and Ward Burton.
Martin Roars to Bristol Pole
Mark Martin took the top starting spot for the first time in two years and will start from the pole position in Sunday's running of the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway. Martin's lap of 15.192 seconds, at an average speed of 126.303 mph, just missed the track record set last season. Sterling Marlin will start from the second spot, followed by rookie phenom Kevin Harvick and Bristol ace Rusty Wallace in row two.
