Jack Roush Makes Holiday Wishes Come True for UFA Widows' and Children's Fund in New York City

(HUNTERSVILLE, N.C.) On Friday, November 30, 2001, Jack Roush along with NASCAR Winston Cup drivers Jeff Burton, Matt Kenseth and Kurt Busch made the holidays a little brighter for the Uniformed Firefighters Association Widows' and Children's Fund. Jack Roush and his drivers stopped by the UFA headquarters in New York to hand deliver a check for more than $89,000 to the chairman of the Widows' and Children Fund, firefighter Jerry Huntzinger. Roush also dropped off hundreds of Christmas gifts for the families of fallen firefighters.

"I think one positive thing to come out of this tragedy is to see how our entire country can come together during a time of crisis to help each other," Roush said. "I am pleased that our company and its employees can do something to offer some help to those individuals who have sacrificed so much. I hope our contributions are somehow able to make a small difference in their lives."

The financial contribution to the fund from Roush arrived through two distinct donation campaigns. First, Roush matched all contributions made by its 1,800 employees of the three main operating companies, Roush Racing, Roush Engineering and Roush Performance. Second, a percentage of souvenir sales made from the last 10 Winston Cup races also went directly to the fund.

The Christmas present donations were made possible through many of Roush's generous licensees. Huge boxes filled with gifts from Mattel, Checkered Flag, VF Knit wear, R.M. Palmer, USAopoly, Valley Forge Flag Co., Seven Sons, Inc., Mine Safety, Inc., Wenger, and Crews, Inc. were delivered and will be dispersed among the widows and children.

The Uniformed Firefighters Association Widows' and Children's Fund is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to assisting widows who are experiencing financial hardship, lend a helping hand in providing health and welfare benefits, and to assist in the educational facilities of the dependent children.
