Roush Racing Down to Four Teams

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. --- Roush Racing announced today that it will focus its 2001 Winston Cup efforts on four teams instead of the five it has run since the start of the 1998 season. 2001 Roush Racing Winston Cup entries will include the No. 6 driven by Mark Martin, the No. 17 driven by Matt Kenseth, the No. 97 driven by Kurt Busch and the No. 99 driven by Jeff Burton. All will be housed in Roush Racing's newest facilities in Concord, N.C. effective immediately.

"The facilities in Concord are state-of-the-art and will help the teams maximize efficiency," said Roush Racing President Geoff Smith. "All four teams will benefit from their proximity to one another in terms of the equipment and information exchange that is critical to fielding successful race teams. We will continue, however, to look for opportunities to run more teams in the future."

Roush Racing is a North Carolina-based subsidiary of Roush Industries, Inc., an engine and prototype development company headquartered in Livonia, Michigan. As the largest motorsports entity of its kind, Roush Racing fields nine teams in NASCAR's three national series, including five in Winston Cup (M. Martin, K. Lepage, M. Kenseth, K. Busch and J. Burton), two in Busch Grand National (Martin, Burton) and two in Craftsman Truck series competition, 2000 champion Greg Biffle and runner-up and teammate Kurt Busch.
