Save Mart/Kragen 350K - Sears Point Raceway
Six in a Row for Gordon
Jeff Gordon rules the road courses. Gordon claimed his sixth win in a row on the circuit's two road course tracks, his third in a row at Sears Point Raceway. Gordon cruised to victory 4.101 seconds ahead of second-place Sterling Marlin to claim his second win of the season and the 51st of his career. Mark Martin, who finished third, was the last driver, other than Gordon, to win a road course event. Point leader Bobby Labonte finished fourth, while Ricky Rudd rounded out the top five.
Another Record-Breaking Pole for Wallace
Rusty Wallace edged Kyle Petty to claim his second pole position in a row, his sixth of the season. Wallace's qualifying lap of 70.652 seconds, at an average speed of 99.309 mph, broke the Sears Point track record previously held by Jeff Gordon, the ninth track record to fall this season. Teammates Bobby Labonte and Tony Stewart will start from row two, behind Wallace and Petty on the front row.
