Pennsylvania 500 - Pocono Raceway

 

Wallace Wins at Pocono
Rusty Wallace won the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway when his teammate Jeremy Mayfield blew a right front tire while leading on the final lap. Mayfield dropped to a tenth-place finish while Jeff Burton finished a close second behind Wallace.

    Stewart Roars to Pocono Pole
    Tony Stewart overcame a rain delay to claim his first pole position of the season. Stewart, who was the first car back out on the track after the rain, turned a qualifying lap in 52.207 seconds, at an average speed of 172.391 mph, to break the Pocono track record. Rusty Wallace just missed his eighth pole of the season but will have to settle for the outside pole in the second spot. Mark Martin and Jeremy Mayfield will start from the second row, while Jeff Gordon rounds out the top five.
