Mayfield Wins Pocono 500
Jeremy Mayfield used a last-lap bump and pass of Dale Earnhardt to claim his second win of the season. Mayfield placed a bumper on Earnhardt in the final turn of the Pocono 500 and dove underneath the 3 car to take a .581 second victory. Teammates Dale Jarrett and Ricky Rudd also passed Earnhardt to take second and third respectively. The win is the third in Mayfield's career and the second at Pocono Raceway.

Wallace Grabs Pocono Pole
Rusty Wallace raced to his series leading fifth pole position of the 2000 season, grabbing the top starting spot for the Pocono 500. Wallace's qualifying lap of 52.440 seconds, at 171.625 mph, set a new track record at the Pocono Raceway. Joining Wallace on the front row of the starting grid is John Andretti, the second row will be filled by Robert Yates Racing teammates Ricky Rudd and Dale Jarrett.
