Burton Makes a Clean Sweep at Phoenix International Raceway
Jeff Burton did it. He went to Phoenix International Raceway with
a mission, and he left with two more wins under his belt. He not
only took the win in the Outback Steakhouse 200 Busch Series race
Saturday in the No. 9 NorthernLight.com Ford Taurus, but he followed
it with a victory in the Checker Auto Parts/ Dura Lube 500 Winston
Cup race Sunday in the No. 99 CITGO SUPERGARD Ford Taurus.

Burton Pulls Phoenix Sweep
Jeff Burton brought out the broom for the second time this season, winning both the Busch Grand National and the Winston Cup races at Phoenix this weekend. Burton also won both events at Las Vegas earlier this season. After leader Ricky Rudd was caught up in a late-race accident, Burton was able to win the 11 lap shootout, holding off Jeremy Mayfield by .854 seconds. The win was the first for Burton at Phoenix and his fourth of the 2000 season.
Wallace Takes Pole at Phoenix
Rusty Wallace will once again lead the field to the green flag this season. Wallace, who captured his ninth pole position of the season, will be at the head of the field on Sunday for the start of the Checker Auto Parts/Dura Lube 500 at Phoenix. Wallace shattered the track record by blazing a lap of 26.830 seconds, at an average speed of 134.178 mph. Jeff Burton will join Wallace on the front row, while row two will be made of Robert Pressley and Johnny Benson.
