Dura Lube 300 - New Hampshire International Speedway
Burton Dominates First Plate Race at New Hampshire
To say that Jeff Burton dominated the Dura Lube 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway would be a major understatement. Burton led every single lap of the first-ever restrictor plate race held at Loudon, staying out front for all 300 laps. Burton's feat of leading flag-to-flag has only been accomplished six times in NASCAR history and only one other driver, Fireball Roberts, pulled it off on a super speedway. Burton's victory is his third win of the season and fourth career win at New Hampshire. With the win, Burton jumps into second place in the Winston Cup points standings, trailing point leader Bobby Labonte by 168 points.
Labonte Takes New Hampshire Pole
Point leader Bobby Labonte will start from the pole position for the first time at the New Hampshire International Speedway, when he leads the field to the green flag for the Dura Lube 300 on Sunday. Labonte turned a qualifying lap of 29.842 seconds, at an average speed of 127.632 mph, to grab the 21st pole of his Winston Cup career. Jeff Burton will join Labonte on the front row, starting second, while Sterling Marlin and Dale Jarrett will start third and fourth respectively.
