Pop Secret Microwave Popcorn 400 - North Carolina Speedway

 

Jarrett Finally Wins at The Rock
Dale Jarrett held off Jeff Gordon by 2.197 seconds to take the checkered flag for the Pop Secret Microwave Popcorn 400 at the North Carolina Speedway. Jarrett won for the first time in 27 races at the Rockingham track and for the second time this season. With the win, Jarrett clinched the 2000 manufacturer's championship for Ford. In the battle for the points title, Dale Earnhardt now trails leader Bobby Labonte by 201 points with three races remaining.

Mayfield Takes the Pole at The Rock
Jeremy Mayfield will lead the field to the green flag for the start of the Pop Secret Microwave Popcorn 400 at Rockingham. With a lap of 23.269 seconds, at an average speed of 157.342 mph, Mayfield claimed his first-ever pole position at the North Carolina Speedway, his fourth pole of the 2000 season, and the sixth pole of his career. Winston Cup point leader Bobby Labonte will join Mayfield on the front row, starting second, while Jeff Gordon and Bill Elliott make out row two.
