Labonte Wins First at Rockingham
Bobby Labonte captured his first-ever victory at the North Carolina Speedway, beating Dale Earnhardt to the finish line by 1.069 seconds. Labonte dominated the second half of the race, lapping all but three cars in the process. The four cars remaining on the lead lap is a new track record. Labonte won for the 13th time in his career.

Wallace on Rockingham Pole
Rusty Wallace toppled the North Carolina Speedway's track record on his way to the pole position. Wallace's record-setting lap of 23.167 seconds, at 158.035 mph, was over a mile-an-hour faster than Ricky Rudd's second place effort. Bobby Labonte and Dale Earnhardt will start from the second row.
