Pepsi 400 Presented by Meijer - Michigan Speedway
Wallace Wins Pepsi 400
Rusty Wallace took the checkered flag for the Pepsi 400 presented by Meijer at the Michigan Speedway, his fifth career win at the Michigan track. Wallace, who hadn't won at Michigan since 1996, beat Ricky Rudd to the finish line by 2.970 seconds to win for the 52nd time in his career and for the third time this season. With the win, Wallace moved up to fifth in the Winston Cup point standings, where point leader Bobby Labonte leads Dale Jarrett by 111 points.
Little E on Pepsi 400 Pole
Winston Cup rookie Dale Earnhardt Jr. will lead the field to the green flag for the Pepsi 400 at the Michigan Speedway. Little E's super-fast lap of 37.667 seconds, at an average speed of 191.149 mph, set a new track record. The pole position is the second of the season for Earnhardt Jr. Dale Jarrett will start along side of Earnhardt in the second spot, while Rick Mast and Ricky Rudd start third and fourth respectively.
