Stewart Wins Back to Back
After a 1 hour and 34 minute red flag for rain and more rain than caused the race the end seven laps early, Tony Stewart becomes the first back-to-back winner of the 2000 season. Stewart held off Dale Earnhardt and Bobby Labonte to take the yellow flag at lap 192, after a lap under caution, the race was red flagged for the second time, this time for good. NASCAR officials halted the race at lap 193 and gave Stewart his second win of the season.
Labonte Roars Michigan Pole
Bobby Labonte roared to his first pole position of the season in record-breaking fashion. Labonte turned in the only lap in the 37 second range ever at Michigan Speedway. Labonte's lap of 37.918 seconds, at 189.883 mph, broke the previous track record held by Ward Burton. The pole is the second for Labonte at Michigan and the 19th of his career. Ricky Rudd will join Labonte on the front row, starting second, while Jeff Gordon and Rusty Wallace make out row two.
