Coca-Cola 600 - Charlotte

 

Kenseth Wins Coca-Cola 600
Matt Kenseth won his first-ever Winston Cup race Sunday night at Lowe's Motor Speedway, becoming the only rookie to win the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte. Kenseth held off Bobby Labonte by .574 seconds to win in his 18th Winston Cup start. Kenseth becomes the second rookie to win this season, giving the rookies a total of three wins, Dale Earnhardt Jr. has won twice in 2000.

    Earnhardt Jr. Takes the Pole at LMS
    Rookie Dale Earnhardt Jr. grabbed his first-ever Winston Cup pole position, claiming the top starting spot for the Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway. Junior's lap of 29.027 seconds, at an average speed of 186.034 mph, broke the previous track record held by Ward Burton. Jerry Nadeau put the US Coast Guard colors on the outside pole, while Bill Elliott and Jeremy Mayfiled will start third and fourth, respectively.
