Brickyard 400 - Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Labonte Wins at the Brickyard
Bobby Labonte won for the first time at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway, becoming the fifth winner in seven races at the Brickyard. Labonte beat Rusty Wallace, who led the most laps in the event, by 4.228 seconds to the checkered flag, the largest winning margin in the history of the Brickyard 400. Labonte's win is the second of the 2000 season and the 14th in his career, coming in his 244th start. The win is the first for Pontiac at Indy and the sixth this season.
Rudd Captures Brickyard Pole
Ricky Rudd won the top starting spot for the Brickyard 400 at the prestigious Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Rudd turned in a qualifying lap of 49.705 seconds, at an average speed of 181.068 mph, to set a new track record. Rudd will start from the pole position for the second time this season. A surprising Darrell Waltrip, who is running in his final Brickyard 400, grabbed the outside pole position, while Bobby Labonte and Jeremy Mayfield start from the second row.
