MBNA Platinum 400 - Dover Downs

 

Stewart Mows 'em Down at the Monster Mile
Tony Stewart becomes the 12th winner in 13 races this season, winning the MBNA Platinum 400 at Dover Downs. Stewart had the field covered, as he led for 242 laps and only five cars finished on the lead lap. Stewart beat Matt Kenseth to the checkered flag by 1.215 seconds to win for the first time this season and the fourth time in his career. Stewart's win is the third this season for Pontiac.

    Another Dover Pole for Wallace
    Rusty Wallace claimed his fourth career pole position at Dover Downs International, taking the top spot on the starting grid for the MBNA Platinum 400. Wallace turned in a qualifying lap of 22.870 seconds, at 157.411 mph, to secure his fourth pole of the 2000 season and the 30th of his career. Bill Elliott, who leads all active drivers in wins at Dover Downs, will start from the outside pole. Rusty's brother, Kenny Wallace will start third, while Mark Martin starts fourth.
