UAW, Delphi to Sponsor Nadeau In 2001

LAS VEGAS, NV - Demonstrating commitment to building greater awarenes of the Delphi brand, the International Union, UAW and Delphi Automotive Systems today announced their partnership to jointly sponsor the #25 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet driven by Jerry Nadeau in the NASCAR Winston Cup series. The announcement was made at a press conference at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas.

"We are thrilled to have UAW-Delphi as the primary sponsor of the #25 team," said Hendrick Motorsports Founder and CEO Rick Hendrick. "Hendrick Motorsports' success has been built on the foundation of teamwork and innovation and these organizations absolutely embody those principles. This is truly an ideal relationship."

Nadeau has enjoyed tremendous success in 2000, his first season at Hendrick Motorsports. The 30-year-old Connecticut native has registered four top-10 finishes including career-best, fourth-place Winston Cup finishes at both New Hampshire and Indianapolis this season. Nadeau also posted a pair of non-points wins during Charlotte Speedweeks' competition, winning a Winston Open qualifier and a No Bull Sprint companion event.

"Having UAW and Delphi on board next season will only help enhance the performance of this team," Nadeau said. "Together, along with all the resources that Rick provides, we've got a tremendous partnership in place. And I'm anxious to get things started in 2001.”

As part of the agreement, at NASCAR Winston Cup races for the next three years, the logos for the UAW and Delphi will be prominently displayed on the hood, sides and the rear of the car. The UAW identification on the car recognizes the dedicated and technically skilled men and women of the UAW who manufacture high quality parts and components at Delphi operations in the U.S. The Delphi logo, which is an oval with Delphi emblazoned in the middle, retains the visual characteristics of the company's corporate identity and reinforces the attributes that have made Delphi the world's largest auto supplier - technology, quality and leadership.

The UAW represents over 38,500 Delphi workers in 22 facilities throughout the U.S. Nationally, the UAW represents 1.3 million active and retired workers. Delphi is currently one of the top five automotive aftermarket suppliers in the world, supplying more than $2.5 billion worth of parts to aftermarket distributors annually. Delphi has approximately 216,000 employees and operates 184 wholly owned manufacturing sites, 44 joint ventures, 53 customer centers and sales offices and 31 technical centers in 40 countries.
