Motown Motors Up with The Stars & Cars of Ford Racing Fan Appreciation Day

DEARBORN, Mich. – The 31 Metro Detroit Ford Dealers will give race fans the opportunity to get up-close with racing’s biggest names at the third annual Ford Racing Fan Appreciation Day on Thursday, June 8, 2000 in conjunction with the Star Theatre-Fairlane Grand Opening.

This free event kicks off race week festivities preceding the K-Mart 400 at Michigan International Speedway. Free tickets to Fan Day are available at any of the 31 Metro Detroit Ford dealers, from May 15th through June 8th.

Ford's NASCAR drivers scheduled to attend include 1999 Winston Cup Champion Dale Jarrett, Mark Martin, Ricky Rudd, Bill Elliott, Elliott Sadler, Kevin Lepage and Brett Bodine. They will sign autographs throughout the event from 4:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and field questions from fans during scheduled question and answer sessions. As schedules permit other Ford drivers may be added.

In addition to the driver appearances, fans will be able to see NASCAR show cars and purchase Ford and individual team merchandise. Fans in attendance can participate in interactive racing displays, featuring video games from GameWork’s Ford Racing Zone. There will be K-Mart 400 race ticket giveaways, pit crew demonstrations, clowns and children’s attractions, and production and concept vehicle displays. Team Ford Racing will also be on hand welcoming Fan Club members at the event.

Fans unable to visit their local Metro Detroit Ford Dealer can buy tickets the day of the event for $10 with all proceeds going to the Komen Race for the Cure® organization, which benefits the Susan G.
