Jeff Green
"The season started out rough at Daytona but it's definitely on track and we are gaining more points each race and that's about everything right now," explains Green. Jeff already has one win this season, with an average finish of eighth, which puts him in the title's points lead. Being in the lead is no wonderment to Jeff who modestly says that, "I've got a great team behind me." This weekend Jeff will roll off from the 26th starting spot at the CarQuest Auto Parts 300, but don't fret, since he started the SunCom 200 from 20th and finished fourth earlier this year. Jeff's closest competition comes from Todd Bodine, who is a mere 83 points behind. For now, the rest of the field is far behind. Interestingly enough, at least to me, is Matt Kenseth who is only running a 'partial' season in Busch and is still third. So for now Jeff and his team will "keep digging" and take each race one at a time, gather enough points, and he just may find himself finishing first. This weekend would have marked Adam Petty's second Winston Cup start. Some questioned whether he was too young, or what not. Yet NASCAR is about family and seeing Adam's roots it was only natural to want to follow in those footsteps. Jeff explains that, "If my son or daughter wanted to race I'd be behind them 110%." That is what Kyle did, and all the other parents in the sport. Kyle not only lost his son but his best friend too. My deepest sympathy goes out to the entire Petty Family and all those who ever came in contact with Adam or even those who felt his loss. Well that's a wrap for this report, sorry for the shortness, but I promise to go back to normal length next time, so until then take care and remember Safety First!!!! Nikki
