NAPA Auto Care 250
Santerre Grabs First Win at the Peak
Andy Santerre missed the majority of the first half of the 1999 season with a broken leg
after a crash at Daytona. Today, he made his comeback official, claiming
his first ever Busch Grand National win. Santerre was able to hold off Tim Fedewa to take
the checkered flag for the NAPA Auto Care 250 at Pikes Peak. Dale
Earnhardt Jr. lost his lead in the point standings to Matt Kenseth, who now leads
Earnhardt by 24 points for the series title.
Blaney on Top at Pikes Peak
Dave Blaney grabbed his third pole position of the season, taking the top starting spot for the
NAPA Auto Care 250 at Pikes Peak. Blaney's lap of 26.604 seconds, at 135.318 mph broke the track
record. Jason Keller will start from the outside pole for the second race in a row, while Tim
Fedewa and Jeff Green will start third and fourth respectively.
